This will be a short blog as my husband and I are in Williamsburg for the week. We’ve been here before but there’s always so much to see and do.
I started the week off with a book signing at Cuppa Cheer in Ladysmith and I’d like to thank Terrie Lynch for a wonderful day. I shared the day with fellow romance authors, Maryann Jordan and Rowan Worth who are also in my Tuesday Night Writes writer group. As always, we gab about writing, but this was my first time seeing ALL that they have written in one sitting.
I noticed Maryann’s three novellas and couldn’t resist asking about it. In case you don’t know, a novella is longer than a short story but shorter than a novel. Maryann is one of those people who is a wealth of information that she shares freely. I started a novella last year and appreciated hearing about her experience writing and publishing hers.
She released three novellas at the same time. They are independent of one another but share the same theme – pen pals. I thought “what a neat idea” and of course during our drive to Williamsburg, my “what if” light bulb came on.
I now have the theme for a series of novellas I hope to create in the coming months. They deal with a Mom and Pop restaurant – Comfort Diner (the “o’s” will be hearts). I already have three plots going and am ardently making notes of our adventures in restaurants this week to create memorable heroes, heroines, support characters and settings.
It’s amazing how an experience eating out changes when you observe more of what’s going on around you! Stay tuned!
Enjoyed the blog. I will stay tuned.
Thank you!
