Invincible

“She survived once. Now, the fight for her life begins again.”

Hayley Turner seemed to have it all: the glamorous life of an up-and-coming model and the security of being the only daughter of a wealthy financier. But everything shattered the night she witnessed the brutal murder of her best friend. Left for dead, Hayley clawed her way back from the brink—fighting amnesia, conquering fear, and testifying to put her attacker behind bars for life.

Now, five years later, Hayley lives in seclusion under a new name, crafting bestselling murder mysteries that reflect her own spine-chilling experiences. Her tightly guarded mountain hideaway offers peace—until another friend and her only link to the outside world is brutally murdered.

Suddenly, Hayley finds herself the target of a deadly vendetta. With assassins stalking her at every turn, she must confront a past she thought she’d left behind.

Liam Walker has been her silent protector, shadowing Hayley since the first attack. The enigmatic man who trained her in self-defense and fortified her remote sanctuary knows her every move and every scar—both physical and emotional. Beneath her fiery temper and sharp tongue, Liam sees a woman of unparalleled strength and resilience.

But with danger closing in, Liam is forced to step out of the shadows and back into Hayley’s life. Together, they face an army of ruthless thugs and the resurfacing of Hayley’s deepest fears. As nightmares unveil suppressed clues to the murder she thought she’d escaped, Hayley must rely on the invincible strength Liam helped her build to uncover the truth—and to survive.

Hayley Turner

Hayley Turner is a study in contradictions – as delicate as porcelain in appearance, yet possessing an inner steel that’s impossible to ignore. Her most striking features are her expressive green eyes, which shift like forest shadows from emerald to moss, always sharp and observant, particularly when studying her enigmatic protector, Liam. These eyes, set wide in a classic oval face with high cheekbones, often dance with an unspoken challenge, emphasized by her habitually quirked eyebrows.

Her luminous auburn hair is usually confined to practical braids or topknots as she moves through her carefully constructed world. The color reflects her inner fire – a perfect match for her resilient spirit. Despite her pale complexion, there’s nothing fragile about Hayley. Her slender, hourglass frame houses surprising strength, honed through dedicated exercise and self-defense training.

Daughter of a prominent family, Hayley’s life changed dramatically after witnessing her friend’s murder. The trauma of that event, coupled with the earlier devastating loss of her beloved mother in a car crash, could have broken her. Instead, these challenges forged her into someone stronger, more determined. Now living in a house she designed herself – a perfect blend of sanctuary and fortress – she channels her energy into writing and staying active. Despite five years of separation from her father, whom she deeply misses, Hayley refuses to be defined by her circumstances. Her delicate hands may suggest refinement, but they’re equally capable of throwing a punch or crafting compelling stories, proving that like the house she designed, there’s always more to Hayley than meets the eye.

Liam Walker

Liam is a striking figure whose very presence commands attention, even when he’s trying to remain in the shadows. Standing tall with an athletic build, he moves with the fluid grace of a predator, always alert and ready. His most arresting features are his unusual eyes – sometimes appearing whiskey brown, other times glacial blue – which reflect both the warmth he keeps hidden and the steel of his profession. These eyes, set beneath dark, expressive brows, are what prompted his Irish grandmother to name him Liam, meaning “strong-willed warrior,” when she recognized the fierce determination in his infant gaze.

His face tells a story of strength and dignity: sharp cheekbones and a broad forehead frame those watchful eyes, while his chin-strap beard and mustache add a rugged edge to his otherwise disciplined appearance. His brown hair, typically swept back and slightly too long, suggests a man more focused on duty than appearance.

A former Secret Service agent, Liam carries the weight of profound loss beneath his professional exterior. The murders of his wife and daughter – collateral damage in a larger conspiracy – have left invisible scars that shape his every decision. Now serving as a protection specialist for the Turner family, he maintains a careful distance from Hayley Turner, the woman he’s sworn to protect, despite his growing feelings for her. His calloused hands and vigilant demeanor speak to his dedication to duty, while his patient and observant nature makes him uniquely qualified to guard someone as complex as Hayley.

Great read! ~ Robin S.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Invincible’ by Kay Brooks. I found it to be an interesting and satisfying story that includes suspense, intrigue and romance. It has a different storyline which is refreshing with captivating and resourceful characters, especially the dog, Murdock. I also liked the secret room that Liam designed to keep Hayley safe.

A Writer’s Journey – In the beginning… Whenever I have a book signing, invariably, someone will walk up to my table and say, “I’ve thought about writing a book, but I wouldn’t know where to start.” I guess it’s instinctive, I mean, everyone enjoys telling a story....

Series or Standalone?

I started writing a new book today and needed a lawyer, so I decided to call on Brad Beckman, my lawyer from The Row Series. Then it thought, why don’t I just base this story in Edmondsville, Virginia and sprinkle Ginny and Cliff, Brina and Rafe, Randi and Trevor,...
