March 1, 2018
I’ve been away from my blog for several reasons. Christmas, the release of Persistent Intruder and imminent release of Love Again.
Christmas is always about family and this year was no different. I will admit that I may have been a little distracted this Christmas as I was deep into final edits of Persistent Intruder for its January 18 release. I was also finishing up Love Again and am frantically editing it for a March 31 release.
An advantage to Indie publishing is you can choose when you publish your books. These two dates have significance to me. January 18th is my father’s birthday and March 31st my mother’s birthday. My father passed away in 2012 but this would have been his ninety-second birthday. My mother will be ninety-one. They both believed in me and always encouraged me to follow my dreams.
What does all this have to do with book signings? These are the way Indie authors promote their books. I did three book signings in late November and December. I was able to connect with friends as well as former library patrons and wine shop customers that knew I was writing. I sought out two of these signings and was invited to the third.
Two weeks ago, Terrie Lynch invited me her first “Meet the Authors” book signing in her Cuppa Cheer tea shop in the Ladysmith community. She said she wanted to feature local authors and I was one of four – Annie Carter, Dawn Nelson, Linda Rapp and myself. I asked if Fredericksburg was local enough and suggested Maryann Jordan and Rowan Worth.
If you’re not doing anything this Saturday, March 3, 11am to 1 pm, I hope you’ll stop by and visit. Terrie will be offering special discounts but more importantly, all of us writers would love to meet you.
I designed and printed postcards with the covers of all my books as well as a sneak preview of Love Again. Many of my readers are ebook readers so it’s hard to get an autograph for something digital. If you’re into autographs, I will be more than happy to sign a postcard. If you prefer the actual book to hold in your hand, I will have copies available. See you Saturday.
