Every other Tuesday, I meet with four authors to network, write and chat.  At our last meeting, Rowan Worth and Maryann Jordan told me I needed to do an author newsletter. I’d been thinking about doing one for a while, but they said, “You’ve written five books. You NEED to do one…NOW.”

So, after much brainstorming with Wayne and Ann, my website manager, we came up with Kay Uncorked. It embodies not only my name but one of my enjoyments in life – wine. Don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before, but Wayne and I used to own a wine shop – Grapes of Taste. I sent out over 1000 “Grapes of Taste this weekend” emails every Wednesday evening. It included info about our free weekend wine and beer tastings, upcoming events, new wines and a tidbit of information about wine in general.

Why do an author newsletter? To connect with readers, of course! Talk about upcoming releases, share a sneak preview of book covers, publicize scheduled book signings, even do giveaways. I’m also thinking of sharing chapters or synopsizes of works in progress. Who knows, I might occasionally include information about wines. We all love wines!

I am always looking for beta readers and reviews of my books. It’s one thing to enjoy writing but better when people comment on them. Last month I posted Love Again on NetGalley, a great site to read ebooks for free and then offer reviews. I will keep you posted when future books will be added. (Hint, I will be doing this again in August.)

Kay Uncorked will be a monthly newsletter so I don’t plan to flood everyone’s mailbox. If you’re interested, Ann has added a link to the website to join. I will be giving a free ebook to the first five that sign up! Hope to hear from you!
